Water resource management
The Power Industry today faces the twin priorities of optimizing cost-efficiency and meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of EC/UK environmental and water quality legislation. It is incumbent on industry and in particular each Power Station to review operational practice, including system design and layout, thereby to develop a plan of action, over a financially acceptable timetable, to:
- improve operational efficiency
- reduce plant running costs
- reduce maintenance costs
- achieve (or surpass) environmental regulatory requirements
- improve public awareness and environmental image.
FBS offers a site-specific water resources management service to industry, incorporating risk-assessment, biofouling control, plant and procedure optimization, and analyses of past practice and environmental implications.
WE UNDERTAKE RESEARCH TO:
- determine local water quality;
- assess the zoogeography of potential fouling organisms;
- assess the efficacy of antifouling application chemicals;
- assess the economics of antifouling application chemicals
WE UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENT OF:
- existing antifouling regimes
- plant which may be at risk
- screen, strainer and washer systems
- local environmental conditions
- presence of local populations of fouling organisms
- potential risk of fouling
- site-specific appropriate technology
